Organic gardening suggests the idea to use only natural ingredients from animals and plants to use as fertilizer in your garden. In these type of manures or compost there is no pesticides or dangerous chemicals. The roots of the plants produced in your garden will be much healthier when using this organic fertilizer. To control pests in your garden with safety you can use Neem oil which is also a natural product. By using this oil, insects, rabbits, squirrels and mice won’t easily eat your plants, but if they should, it won’t be harmful to them.
Removing weeds from your garden regularly will be helpful to keep it pest-free. The thistle will supply both food as well as a breeding ground for insects. Weeds will extract the nutrients, meant for your plants from the soil.
You should take care not to use this organic fertilizer in excess, not because it is damaging, but too much will cause the excessive growth of your plants. Usually the stem and roots are not strong enough to support such extra growth which in turn leads to splitting in the stem. Water can’t reach the roots when the stem splits. For the best results you should not use more than 1” organic fertilizer. Use the compost during the months when the plants grow, because during winter the rain can wash the nutrients away.
These organic gardens don’t need so much water as the non-organic gardens, because the fertilizer absorbs the water better due to the natural materials it consists of. Your organic garden must be watered properly. If it gets too much water the plants can’t hold the amount of oxygen needed to thrive and with too little water the plants will wilt and die. Should you worry about too much rain in the organic garden it is advisable to cover the base of the plants with a lot of mulch, then the water won’t be absorbed. When you observe that the plants get too less water, you can dig carefully around the stem, and then slowly pour the water to enable the roots to absorb it.
Your organic garden, when well taken care off will be just as productive and beautiful as a non-organic one. It will give you great satisfaction in knowing that you used a natural method to grow your plants without using harmful chemicals or fertilizers which can cause harm to animals and vegetables. It is a nice hobby to have a garden and feeling assured that you did not cause harm to nature will even be more rewarding. Usually better plants are produced in organic gardens because of the healthier roots. You can feel assured that your organic garden will continuously offer appeal and beauty for a long period.
